Is HD TV just hype?
Is it one of those things like Betamax video players or Minidiscs, that try and encourage everyone to buy it, even though its really expensive and quite useless really? People that are obsessed with having the latest thing will buy it, even if its not necessary and the whole idea might bomb in the future.

Betamax was actually the better quality of all of them, they just got the marketing wrong and everybody already had VHS. the broadcasting companies such as the BBC still use Betamax.brHD is the next step forward, dont everybody will want it, but eventually it will be the standard the same as digital. The improved picture quality is very noticable. HD wont bomb but will become out of date
