Is it better to have a Wii console vertical or horizontal?

Is it better to have a Wii console vertical or horizontal?
My family just got a Wii and were trying to figure out the best way to have it...standing up or laying down.

Vertical is the Wiis default position, and its probably less likely to overheat in that position.brbrHowever, with all those cats running around, its probably a better idea to put it in the horizontal position.
